So, you want to invest in a digital camera? Who knew there were so many options, so many bells and whistles, so many different megapixel options when buying one of these gadgets! This is even without including the various advertisements and different ratings that are used to promote these products.

Digital Camera Prices

What things should you deem important before you make this purchase? Before answering a question like this you should conisider 2 sets of guidelines. Issue number one is to decide what you’re looking for as far as features and what you’re willing to spend. Answer these 3 questions before you go any further:

1. What kind of pictures do you want to take with your digital camera? If you buy a camera for professionals and you’re just taking snapshots you’ll certainly pay more than you should. If you are a digital photography enthusiast, just any digital camera will not do. You’ll want to pay close attention to the different features such as digital or optical zoom, total megapixels and battery life.

2. What are you resources? When you buy digital camera, sometimes the spending does not end there. You also have to consider the capacity and the power of the computer and the printer you will be hooking your camera with for your editing and printing needs. Editing software may already be included when you buy digital camera but other devices aren’t. Aside from a printer, ink and paper for printing, you might also need additional memory cards for your camera and a more powerful computer to support image editing and image storage and retrieval.

3. How much is your budget? You should not overlook this important aspect of the purchase. It doesn’t really matter what you WANT in a camera if your budget cannot afford it! Now that you’ve got the first set of questions answered, the other group of questions you’ll want to address before buying your camera are some of the bells and whistles you’ll want. These are:

4. Megapixels Before you buy digital camera, check first its capacity to produce high quality photo images. Since you’ll likely be zooming and enlarging the photos you’ll want to be sure you get the most pixel count (higher resolution) so you don’t lose picture quality.

5. Maximum Memory Capacity Digital cameras need memory cards for picture storage. These days expandable memory can help overcome the lack of built-int memory. Having multiple extended storage cards makes it easy for those extra long shoots and ensures you never run out of space.

6. LCD Display If you want to see photos before and after you shoot the display is important. This is a small screen located at the back of a digital camera that allows you to preview the pictures you took. Don’t forget, however, about the battery power required to run this little screen. It can really drain your battery quickly if you use it a lot.

7. Other Special Features. Often overlooked are some of the other special features. Optical zoom will help you keep higher picture quality than will digital zoom. A diopter adjustment on the digital camera’s viewfinder will also be beneficial to those who regularly wear glasses. Other features such as remote control, tripods, etc. should also be considered when you buy a digital camera.

With this information, you can now figure out what you really need and want before you buy digital camera.
